Community Lead, Trust & Safety

At Singularity 6, I worked as the Community Lead of Trust and Safety on the flagship title, Palia. During my tenure we ramped up from our final alpha tests to open beta in August of 2023, and our Nintendo Switch launch just a few months later in December of 2023. Palia’s high-velocity patching schedule required flexibility and adaptability, a deep familiarity with Live Service Games, and strong connections within the community. I trained and led a strong, professional international moderation team for our community spaces, developed player behavior policy and Trust and Safety strategy, and spun up a brand new award-nominated community ambassador program. Our efforts paid off: Before Palia went into open beta, the community had grown to over 100,000 strong, and when I left in December of 2023 had tripled in size in three months.

The Shepp Program

Palia’s Shepp Program was a community ambassador program designed to bring the warmth of Palia’s world out into the real world and to honor the amazing creativity and dedication that the community had to the game and each other before it ever publicly launched. Shepps helped the community team collect and reflect feedback that was representative of the community as a whole, created community-run events with the S6 stamp of approval, ran fundraising efforts for Extra Life and other gamer-focused charities - the list goes on.

I created the Shepp program from the ground up, managing all parts of the process - the applications, acceptances, NDAs, relationships, event approvals, content approvals, monthly meetings, materials and assets, etc. I helped to facilitate meetings between Shepps and other parts of the dev team - to test new content or deliver feedback - and always ensured a safe environment for all attendees.

Moderation Team Manager

I led and managed an international team of 12 round-the-clock professional moderators for our active community spaces, heavily focusing on our Discord server. I created empathy-focused moderation training materials, onboarded and trained new moderators, regularly audited all moderation actions, managed our escalation pathways, and set the behavior standards for our family friendly, cozy community. I worked hand in hand with player support and our Player Behavior Community of Practice to ensure a consistent upholding of standards across our game and community spaces.

(Fun fact: My training materials are still in use for international moderators at various moderation and player support agencies across the world!)
